US News and World Report has named UPMC as America’s best hospital for 11th time by placing it on the Honor Roll of America’s Best Hospitals.
UPMC is among the only 14 hospitals nationwide that have been mentioned on the Honor Roll and it the only one in the region to be mentioned on the Honor Roll.
UPMC earned this honor for being ranked in 15 of 16 specialty areas including those seven specialties for which UPMC is in the top 10 list.
The US News and World Report survey shows that UPMC is the only medical center to be ranked from southwestern Pennsylvania and it is placed at 13th place in the 152 hospitals out of 5000 hospitals that are considered eligible hospitals for ranking in some area of specialty.
Elizabeth Concordia, the executive vice president of UPMC and president of the Hospital and Community Service Division has said that their continued membership in the Honor Roll shows UPMC’s commitment to their profession of patient care and their continuous advancements in the medical technologies and therapies.
The US News and World Report enlist the institutions on the basis of their excellence in expertise in to at least six specialty areas.
UPMC is an integrated global health enterprise that is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with an $8 billion worth and it is considered one of the major nonprofit health systems in the United States.
UPMC has transformed the economy of the region into an economy based on health care areas.
