Macclesfield Town’s football manager Keith Alexander has died yesterday after returning from Notts County where his side suffered a 1-0 defeat.
The precise cause of Alexander’s death is still not known but it is reported that he suddenly collapsed last night and then never recovered.
Keith Alexander had suffered a brain aneurysm back in 2003 when he held the reins of Lincoln City. Again in 2009, he was rushed to hospital after he complained that he was not feeling well. It is also reported that he had paid a visit to a doctor in the morning.
The news of Alexander’s death has been a shock for many of his colleagues and family members. The chairman of Division two’s club, Mike Rance, said that the club is absolutely devastated by Alexander’s passing away.
Rance said that he had spoken to Keith last night around midnight and he was in good spirits although they had lost the game to a financially superior club. They also discussed about the FA hearing after Keith got involved in a row with a referee at Bournemouth. He said that Keith was the perfect administrator for his low budgeted club.
Keith Alexander was born on November 14, 1956 in Nottingham, England. Alexander played most of his career in the lower divisions of English football. He also played international football for St. Lucia.
In 1993, Alexander turned towards managing football clubs and grabbed the reins of Lincoln City. In the following years he managed clubs like IIkeston Town, Northwich Victoria, Peterborough United before coming to an end of his fate at Macclesfield Town.
In this moment of grief our thoughts are with the family of Alexander.
