Fidel Castro, the man behind communist revolution of Cuba has given a rare public appearance since the time he handed over presidential powers to his brother Raul Castro.
Recently few tabloids reported a quote from the man who was quite famous for his crispy quotes, ‘The vast majority of football fans do not even know what continent Uruguay is in but it seems to me that the referees are biased against the South American sides’.
According to reports, Fidel Castro visited a scientific think tank in Havana. He was shown wearing a track suit , have a great smile on his face while chatting to the workers at the scientific think tank center in the capital of Cuba, Havana on Saturday.
Fidel Castro’s rare appearance has surfaced at a moment when Cuba is reading itself to release all those 52 political prisoners who were jailed in 2003 when Fidel Castro was exercising his presidential prowess against the opposition.
The photos of Fidel Castro’s rare appearance are said to be taken by Fidel Castro’s son, Alex who posted them to the official Cuban website. Alex reportedly took these photos when Fidel Castro was visiting the National Centre for Scientific Investigation.
Fidel Castro, 83 has not been appeared in public since July 2006, when he was taken to an emergency intestinal surgery and he provisionally ceded his presidential powers to his brother Raul Castro.
The blogs and other internet resources are commenting that Fidel Castro was looking thin but good and according to some he was very good mentally. He reportedly threw kisses to the group of people who had been waiting for Fidel Castro for a chance to have a glimpse of their leader.
The visit of Fidel Castro to the scientific centre was in conjunction with its 45th anniversary of creation in July 1965.
Though last year Hugo Chavez, a close ally of Castro had said that Fidel Castro was in good condition and having walks near his Havana residence but these reports were never confirmed or rejected by the Cuban sources.
Fidel Castro ruled Cuba for almost five decades after toppling Fulgencio Batista.
