Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner has debuted its first flight outside the United States on Sunday when it landed in Farnborough just a day before the beginning of Farnborough International Airshow.

After a 9-hour flight from Seattle, the twin-engine Boeing 787 Dreamliner touched down the runway of Farnborough International Airport around 9 in the morning. The plane was quickly parked near the company officials who were waiting on the airport along with media correspondents and VIPs to greet it.

The chairman and CEO of Boeing Co. led other company officials and VIP officers on private tour of the 787 Dreamliner which was followed by the tour of a U.S. Congressional delegate which included Sen. Lindsey Graham, Sen. Harkin, and Sen. James Inhofe.

With the arrival of 787 Dreamliner at the Farnborough airport, Chicago-based Boeing has achieved another milestone. Last year during the Paris Air show, the executives of Boeing confirmed that 787 Dreamliner was ready to be brought on the track by the end of June.

But a week after the show, the company found some design flaws which forced them to delay the release of Dreamliner by six months. 787 Dreamliner finally made its first flight on December 15 and now five of the six aircrafts are flying. The sixth aircraft will make its maiden flight in August, according to the company.

The 787 Dreamliner is manufactured mostly of a composite of carbon-fiber material, features state-of-the-art technology. Soon after the arrival of Dreamliner at Farnborough, media reps and local visitors started flocking around the plane and the new aircraft snatched away the attention from Airbus A380, which was parked few hundred feet away.

The Farnborough Air show would give its visitors an opportunity to have an up-close look at the Dreamliner – which has been making quite a buzz for a year.
