Edline: A Facility Or A Threat To Students

Edline is a web school in America. The online service provides help to students to access information related to their academics. The service is not only for students but also provides assistance to parents who want to access their kid’s performance and up-coming academic events in the school provided the teacher also cooperates and uploads the requisite information.

Edline enhances the communication and sharing of information within the student-teacher-parent triangle. Now parents directly have access to their child’s progress in the school and easily get grade report of exams/tests, attendance, home assignments and other scheduled activities. According to Edline, their service is being used in all states of U.S.

Edline has become popular in numerous schools who advocate paperless academic environment leading to reduced costs. The subscribers are given login and passwords to access their accounts. After setting up of account , the teacher can upload whatever he/ she deems fit to let the students and his /her parent know.

It may include exams, projects, and any type of academic information. Different schools may have different policies leading to different amount of information accessible to parents by the teachers. So they can share whatever their school policy warrants.

But Edline is not free from criticism as many students have complained that the service is creating harassment from parents when they see an odd and misleading information or material posted by the teacher. Edline has been misused when child pornography was used and posted on the website. Edline provides a quick access to child’s performance which impacts his relationship with parents and his academic performance.
