A number of people have received a strange e-mail, claiming that they will be able to see double moon in the sky on the night of 27th August at 12:30 A.M (28th August to be precise).
The email claims that Mars will come closest to the earth tonight and people will be able to witness Mars as big as moon, hence double moon could be seen in the sky, but unfortunately this is just another hoax created over the internet.
The e-mail calming that people would be able to see double moon started circulating over the internet recently, however the e-mail was created back in 2003, when Mars was actually near to the earth.
According to the news, back in 2003 when Mars came closest to the earth, it was 34 million miles away from earth and the event occurred after 60,000 years, but it was still 75% smaller than the moon, so there was no chance of seeing the double moon back then.
According to the reports the Mars is hundred and ninety million miles away from earth and this is the farthest it can be.
We are very sorry to dishearten those people who were thinking to get a glimpse of double moon.
