Cisco Announcement: Can It Make Any Impact On The Internet

Cisco has finally made the big announcement everyone was anticipating. The Cisco announcement reminded us once again that its sophisticated routers are the soul of its business. In its latest announcement, Cisco revealed another router.

Now since we all knew what was in store for us, let’s look back at the hype Cisco created about its announcement. The world’s largest internet service provider surely created quite a hype about the announcement and said that it would ‘forever change the Internet’. But was the announcement really worthy of that hype? Apparently, Cisco has unveiled a router which is mainly just an update to its existing router.

But the hype is not a total failure though. Cisco announcement holds significant value as its new router comes with some amazing new features. According to Cisco, the new router CRS-3 is offering 3 times faster internet speed than the previous routers of the company. According to the announcement, Cisco’s newest router has 12 times greater traffic capacity than the older routers.

The newest router of Cisco has the capability to handle 322 Terabits of traffic per second, or which means that it could simultaneously handle the video calls of every person in China(needless to mention, China is the most populated country of the world).

We do understand that the new router of Cisco would bring a significant change to the infrastructure of country’s biggest ISPs like AT&T, Level3, and Sprint, but what impact does this change would make on the internet users?

According to Cisco announcement, once the new routers are installed, the average broadband internet consumer won’t experience any change but over the time the average consumer will see the benefits of the news and upgraded system. According to the Cisco announcement, the ISPs would be able to offer video-based applications (like high-definition TV and video conferencing) to mass markets!
