Barnes & Noble issued the statement yesterday on Friday that it is creating boutiques within its stores premises for its Nook e-reader in order to display the digital device, software and accessories.
It has been reported that the 1,000 square feet Nook Boutiques is to begin appearing in some of the stores this summer and the remainder this fall. The reports further suggest that the Apple-Store-like boutiques would be having demonstration tables, several Nooks, which could be tried out and ‘an adjoining wall and large flat-panel display’ of the visual demonstrations running showing the e-readers.
There would be some other interesting add-ons like more than 100 accessories would be available including Nook covers by fashion designers such as Kate Spade and Lilly Pulitzer. These boutiques would be laced with the staff, whose duties include providing the people with Nook demonstrations.
Barnes & Noble says that the archetype Nook Boutique is presently all geared up and running in its Livingston, N.J. store.
Undoubtedly, it is called the wonderful effort by Barnes & Noble with the Nook having entered the increasingly competitive e-reader field last December.
Barnes & Noble has initiated this step just to overcome the competitor, Amazon.
