The New York Yankees have been working on a trade deal with Houston Astros to acquire Lance Berkman. The deal is expected to close today i.e. Saturday. To trade Lance Berkman, Yankees will be sending a few prospects to the Houston Astros.

By Friday, the deal was uncertain and Lance Berkman also said that nothing was complete before his team’s match with Milwaukee. Lance Berkman has no-trade rights and for any trade deal.

Astros needs his approval. The 34-years-old Lance Berkman is a five-time All-Star player who was not a part of the starting line-up in Astros match against the Brewers. On Friday Berkman started his game with 13 homers and an average of .245 hitting score. He ended his play with 60 walks along with 70 strikeouts.

The acquisition of Lance Berkman will raise the standards of Yankees even more. His inclusion in the team is sending a message to the team’s rival to let them know who they’ll be facing in future games. Yankees were keen to acquire Lance Berkman and a few more players to construct a great new team. With the trading deadline fast approaching, it became pivotal for the Yankees to confirm its new acquisitions and with the closing of Lance Berkman deal Yankees will take the crown.
