Philadelphia Phillies, two-time League champion team, is at crossroads. Not just that the Phillies have lost their fifth game and have fallen about seven games behind the Braves but the team has also lost a valuable player.
Jamie Moyer suffered a severe injury in his left elbow and won’t be able to play for indefinite period. At the same time, Kyle Kendrick has been downgraded from his previous position and JA Happ has not returned to the lineup yet.
With so many players missing the rotation of Philadelphia Phillies is hurting. GM of the franchise is hunting for new players to fill the vacant positions in the team, and reportedly the managers are working hard to bring in Roy Oswalt of Houston Astros and Jayson Werth.
Initial reports said that no deal is finalized with Werth or Roy Oswalt and that the team has few other names in their favorite players’ lists. But we know that Roy Oswalt is open for a deal/trade for almost a year and if Phillies approaches him chances are he would consider the offer very seriously.
But the question remains, how much Phillies is willing to offer to Roy Oswalt? Sports analysts are saying that Oswalt won’t accept any cheap offer as he’s owed $16 million for the upcoming season. Speculations are made that if Phillies acquire Roy Oswalt, it will move Jayson Werth in a ‘companion deal’.
Phillies and Houston Astros are discussing the possibilities of a trading deal involving Roy Oswalt and Jayson Werth and it is not conclusive yet. Phillies are also offering JA Happ to trading partners for a deal.
