Nate Diaz took over his opponent in front of a hostile crowd and won the fight after submitting him. Diaz finished off with Davis with only 90 seconds remaining by submitting him with a guillotine at the UFC 118 fight on Saturday night. The victory came after a bloody fight in which Marcus Davis’ eye continued to bleed throughout the fight. The paramedics kept on checking his cuts between the rounds but eventually, with 90 seconds left in the fight, Nate Diaz put him down with a tight guillotine.
The fight started in an aggressive way with both Diaz and Davis making offensives and defensives. Diaz hit Davis and Davis answered them with a series of kicks which knocked Nate Diaz for some brief moments. But Diaz managed to survive the exchange of punches and punched Davis which caused a cut just below his eye brow. Nate Diaz found his rhythm by the end of the first round. In second round, he kept himself at a safe distance to stay away from the potentially dangerous punches of Davis while Davis continued fighting with his bleeding eye cut. Both kept fighting and by the end of the round Davis took Nate Diaz down to the ground. Diaz immediately stood up and reversed the situation. Between their fights, the crowd kept groaning over Davis’ eye which was bleeding profusely. By the third round, it was swollen shut. In the third and final round, Nate Diaz dominated over Davis and eventually put him to sleep with a tight guillotine. Referee Levigne called the fight over while 90 seconds in the fights were left.
It was Nate Diaz’s second victory at the welterweight. Diaz says he wants to move down to lightweight in future and wants to fight at 155 with Gray Maynard and his likes.
