Nate Burleson Signs 5-Years Deal With Detroit Lions

Nate Burleson’s stay at Seattle drew to a close on Thursday night when he signed a $25 million 5-year deal with the Lions.

The deal will come with a guaranteed $11 million for Nate Burleson.

It will definitely be a favorable equation for Burleson rather he would be overjoyed with the amount that is attached to the deal but in my honest opinion the Lions might just have overpaid for the wide receiver.

I am not trying to be harsh on Burleson but $25 million for him is just too much. I mean he is a decent performer on the field and his last season with the Seahawks was not all bad which ended with a factsheet of 63 catches and 812 yards sprint but the total catches tally of his four years equals 136 including last season’s count. He’s just not that guy who will single handedly take you all the way to glory.

The reason I think behind the lavish deal could be Lion’s desperate desire to fill the vacuum in the receiving positions at the club and looking at the current form of Burleson they didn’t want to see him go anywhere else. Lion’s still need another wide receiver for creating more passing opportunities for the quarterbacks.

I sincerely wish Burleson hasn’t still delivered his best and this deal matches the expectations of both Burleson and the Lions but the odds are really not in favor of Burleson. Let’s just wait and see if he develops into what is expected of him.
