Texas Rangers has acquired a right-handed batsman Jeff Franceour from New York Mets by exchanging Joaquin Arias.

The exchange deal was closed on Tuesday. The New York Mets have said that the franchise won’t be shedding any salary in the exchange trade deal which means Mets will be responsible for Jeff Franceour’s $5 million remaining salary. Similarly, Texas Rangers will be paying Arias’ prorated remainder of Arias’ salary.

Texas Rangers have been looking for a right-handed batsman to get help against tough left-handed pitches and Jeff Franceour was the perfect choice for them. Franceour has an average hit of .278 against the lefties this season. He also has three homers and 12 RBIs on his scorecard. Talking about Jeff Franceour, Rangers manager said that the team can really use another right-handed bat like Jeff Franceour in its lineup. He also said that Franceour can also give good runs.

Jeff Franceour, 26, didn’t have a smooth season this year and has struggled in recent games. He hit .229 in August and only .132 in July. Talking about his current play Franceour says that things are ‘kind of bittersweet’ for him.

He said although his year is not going the way he wanted it to go but he has played hard every day. Talking about his trade from Mets, Jeff Franceour said that he realized that the team thought he didn’t fit in their plans for next year. He said that he saw that coming and is grateful to Mets for giving him an opportunity. Talking about his new association Jeff Franceour said that playing against lefties is a great opportunity for him and he would love to go to the playoffs.
