Maake Kemoeatu Has Been Signed By Redskins!

Redskins announced today that they have signed Maake Kemoeatu.

According to the details, Maake Kemoeatu, the free agent nose tackle, has been signed by Redskins under a deal whose terms not disclosed. Maake Kemoeatu has played in more than hundred games and has made 291 tackles along with four sacks, one fumble recovery, and one forced fumble during his 8-year career (2002-05 at Baltimore and 2006-09 at California).

Maake Kemoeatu spent most of his 2009 season on injury reserve after he suffered with a torn Achilles tendon during training. During the 2008 season, Maake Kemoeatu made 40 tackles (31 of which were solo) and defended two passes, and made a forced fumble while starting 14 games.

Maake Kemoeatu originally entered in NFL as a college free agent with Baltimore in April 2002 and spent about four seasons with the Baltimore club. Later, Maake Kemoeatu joined Panther and signed with the team as unrestricted free agent after the 2005 season.

During his college, Maake Kemoeatu played at Utah in 43 games and made 160 tackles with nine sacks. Maake Kemoeatu also earned himself All-Mountain West Conference honorable mention during his senior campaign.

The signing of Maake Kemoeatu at Redskins was revealed on Wednesday. Sports critics have called this signing a low-key move by the free agent who remains relatively quiet. The signing of Maake Kemoeatu was carried out by Redskins’ new coach Mike Shanahan and new GM Bruce Allen. In addition to Maake Kemoeatu, Redskins has also signed offensive lineman Artis Hicks on Saturday.
