Larry Johnson Signs Up With Washington Redskins

The former chief running back, Larry Johnson, has been signed up for a 3-year contract by the Redskins yesterday evening.

Larry Johnson is now to pair up with Clinton Portis in the defense lineup and that will make a dynamic combination even though both the stars are around the 30’s. Johnson is 30 while Portis is aged 28. But I feel both the powerful running backs have been lucky as their bodies weren’t exposed to great wear and tear.

Johnson was born on November 19, 1979 in Pomfret, Maryland. He started his college career while attending Penn state University. In his senior year he won the Doak Walker Award (best running back), the Maxwell Award and Walter Camp Award which are both awarded to the best college player of the season.

In 2003, Johnson was drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft antsd was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs. He stayed with the Chiefs till 2009 and during his stay at the city he won Senior Bowl Most Valuable Player 2003 and was twice selected in the Pro Bowl Selection in 2005 and 2006. He also holds the NFL all-time record of 416 rushing attempts in a single season.

In November last year, Johnson was traded to Cincinnati Bengals after a series of disciplinary offences at the Kansa City camp. At the Bengals camp he was more of a substitute player rather than a starter.

Johnson’s current deal with the Redskins is estimated to be around $12 million and the contract period is of 3-years.
