Jake Delhomme is the newest name in jobless-people-in-America list as his former team Panthers cut him out.
According to the details, Jake Delhomme has been cut out of the Panthers on Thursday after an year of extension in his lucrative contract. Jake Delhomme has had a terrible season last year while he had a chance to make his presence valuable. Last year, though Jake Delhomme didn’t have a legitimate competition in Panthers training camp, he performed miserable. Jake Delhomme was sidelined after he broke his finger.
Jake Delhomme’s cut-out is not a big surprise for many of us because we were seeing it coming. In fact, what surprised us was that Panthers extended his contract last year. Jake Delhomme, at the end of 2008 season, committed about six turnovers during a playoff loss to Arizona. But Panthers coach John Fox decided to give him an extension in his expensive contract with a new deal. Panthers still owes Jake Delhomme about $12.5 million in guaranteed money.
The news of Jake Delhomme being cut out of the Panthers was confirmed today by his agent Rick Smith. Smith also mentioned that Jake Delhomme would talk to reporters on Friday. Jake Delhomme, 37, is now out of work and out of job. He has ended his career with the Panthers with a 58-40 record as a starter and even had trip to Super Bowl.
Now, since Panthers’ quarterback Jake Delhomme is no more in the team, one can make a guess that Panthers might be thinking of making a deal with Matt Moore or even someone newer as its QB.
