Anthony Weiner lost his nerves on Thursday at the senate floor when most of the House Republicans voted against a bill that was initiated to provide $7.4 billion in aid to the first responders of 9/11. The bill was aimed to provide health care facilities to those 9/11 first responders who became sick with different complications after the attacks.
The Republicans complained that Democrats deliberately opted to bypass the voting on amendments and going for a process that sped up the voting but it required a two third majority to be passed.
All this Republican vying was telling upon Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner who blew a fuse on the House floor and in a dramatic more than a minute long speech Anthony Weiner blasted the Republicans for being cowardly opposing the bill on procedural level. The vote ended with 255 in favor and 159 in opposition largely along the respective party lines but it was Anthony Weiner speech that made the headlines of the day.
Anthony Weiner said that it is Republicans wrapping arms around Republicans and not doing the right thing on their heroes’ behalf.
Anthony Weiner shouted it was shame, a real shame, if you think providing health care is a bad idea then simply say no but do not give me the cowardly view that if it would have been through this or that procedure.
Anthony Weiner added that it was Republicans who were staging a charade under the pretence of supporting the bill after certain amendments. Anthony Weiner continued yelling at Republicans saying that in the United States Senate it is customary that members say they want amendments, we want debate, we want amendments, and we want debate but with a No. Anthony Weiner lost his temper further while saying that you must say Yes if you believe Yes and No if you believe No
