The world celebrates Record Store Day

Remember those large, round records with surface so shiny you could actually see yourself– back then people tend to buy them instead of lousy cassettes.

Today the technology has changed everything, even the way we like to listen to our favorite music. We have internet to help us download the music. We can download our favorite music for less than 99 cents and can listen it on our iPods. Back then, in the age of records, everything was done with an enthusiasm. The music lovers actually put effort in visiting the records stores located on the main square of the town and buying the favorite tunes. Perhaps back then people knew how to give respect to their love.

To give a tribute to the good old records, the world is celebrating Record Stores Day today. Record Stores Day was initially a holiday celebrated in UK only but gradually the trend was adopted by other countries too. Today U.S. and UK are two countries where Record Stores Day is celebrated with great enthusiasm. How can you celebrate the Record Stores Day?

If you’re living in one of those culturally rich towns which still have record stores, you can drop by to invest in these excellent pieces. Your local record store may be a part of the Records Stores Day celebrations and offer you some great discounts and special deals on its products. Or May be your grandparents own some records of old, classic music and you could listen to them.

If you’re a true fan of music, Records Stores Day is a reminder that you should invest in something tangible. True lovers need to show respect by buying music in tangible form. It’s a whole different feel. Trust me. Hold that large, round record or an original CD in your hand. It feels far better than a 1MB file on your hard disk. Musicians work hard to create such pieces of art, why shouldn’t we put some effort too to pay our respect to their work and save them in non-disposable form?

Go out, hunt for a record store, buy some classic pieces, and show the love you posses for music. It’s Record Store Day, what could be a better way than that to celebrate it?
