Nikki & Rich, pop soul duo Nikki & Rich has taken Muse’s Uprising in this week’s Mashup Monday. The duo has turned the British band’s prog-rocky rage into a more intimate song very close to heartbeat.

Rick Velonskis of Nikki & Rich added that while taking Muse’s Uprising they were thinking that it was something different from them. Uprising has been a No.1 hit on the Alternative Songs chart during 2009. Rick further added that they had been a fan of this song so they wanted to take and try it while breaking it down more acoustically and adding a little bit of more hip hop feel to the song in the background.

Nikki Leonti said that they were quite excited about it and no doubt Nikki Leonti’s soulful vocals have given the Uprising a huge departure from the original song.

Nikki & Rich however were sure of one thing and that was its chart success and of course the taking of Uprising has indicated that Nikki & Rich’s upcoming debut album ‘Everything’ is going to be a must hear in this summer.

A mashup or mash up and even mash-up is a song or composition that is created by blending two or more songs in such a way that usually one song’s vocal track is seamlessly overlay the music track of another song. These mashups are called transformative of the original content and hence they do not come under the copyright infringement following the doctrine of fair use of copyright law.
