Marc Cohn is remembering 70s but not the big social events like Earth Day or tragic Kent State shooting incident. His memories are more musical and personal. Marc Cohn’s 70s memories comprise of his dramatic days in which he listened some of his favorite music albums by Simon and Garfunkel, The Grateful Dead, and Badfinger.
And now Marc Cohn has put these songs together in an album titled ‘Listening Booth 1970’ to share his favorite 70s music with you. The collection disc was released on July 20.
Talking about ‘Listening Booth 1970’ Marc Cohn said that the idea of making this album struck his mind when he and his producer John Leventhal were looking at their favorite singles from that year.
Cohn tells that he and his producer Leventhal share same music taste. Initially, the two decided to cover some songs like ‘After the Gold Rush’ but then they decided to make a collection of less-heard legendary songs from year 1970, tells Marc.
‘Listening Booth 1970’ contains songs like ‘No Matter What’ of Badfinger and ‘Only Living Boy in New York’ of Paul Simon. Fans of Marc Cohn, who is famous for his evergreen ‘Walking in Memphis’, might be surprised by the songs collection featured in his newest album as they carry a vibe different than the one his other work carries.
‘Listening Booth 1970’ is a 13-track album. The songs are performed by Marc Cohn while John Leventhal has played all the instruments sans drums. Marc Cohn will be performing some of these hidden gems as well as his own folk poetry to the Ridgefield Playhouse coming Saturday.
