A Superman ring belonging to 40’s era has generated an unusual hype among the buyers with initial bids already passing the $4000 mark.
One of the rare auction pieces, the Superman ring was put up for sale on the internet today. The bidding is set to continue for 7 days and the auction will end on March 15, 2010.
The specialty of the Superman ring is due to the fact that it is one of the 1600 rings which were awarded by the National Periodical Publications to its ‘Supermen of America’ club members. Only 20 of the original rings have been reported to exist even today while others were either lost or damaged.
The bids for the rare ring are set to increase considerably over the 7-days’ time as was the case of a Superman comic that was sold for a million dollars last month. The comic was the first published Superman comic in June 1938.
The Superman character was created in 1932 by an American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian artist Joe Shuster. In 1938 both the artists sold the superhero to Detective Comics in 1938 and later it was published the same year.
The story of Superman tells that he was born on planet Krypton and was flown by a rocket to Earth by his father. He is later raised in a Kansas family as Clark Kent.
One of the reasons of Superman’s never ending popularity is due to the fictional hero’s abilities. Superman possesses superhuman strength, flying ability, speed, stamina, durability, special senses, superhuman intelligence, super breath, heat and X-ray vision.
Let’s see how much this Superman ring manages to fetch. Will keep you guys updated.
