Save the Planet Protest, James Jay Lee’s mantra

Save the Planet Protest was the slogan of the killed James Jay Lee, who took three hostages at Discovery Channel’s headquarters in Washington DC in USA on Wednesday. Well, the man really loved the planet.

But the question arises in mind that did the radical environmentalist James Jay Lee really need to take the hostages to prove it and to accomplish his protest?

Police shot James and killed him after four hours standoff at the channel’s building. It is said that James had been opposed to the Discovery Channel for many years. His belief was that the channel caused the earth more harm than benefits.

James’s mantra of saving the planet was that by decreasing the human population and saving the animal, you can save the planet. Lee was of the view that the planet did not need humans and claimed the same on his website. He was against the Discovery channel.

Let us share your thoughts whether Lee was right or wrong?

    Oh dear.
Well, if human beings are useful to the planet, for example to plant trees, and to help save animals and rescue them from oil spills and to help them with breeding programs and to help to increase the biodiversity of the planet, such as the Amazon Rainforest, which is the manifestation of a positive intimate relationship between humans and nature working for the best biodiversity of life on the planet, then humans can be useful.

Personally I would consider that James Jay Lee is a nut-case, and if he really had wanted to save the planet, it would have been more useful for him to go to Brazil and talk to the Brazilian government about the Brazilian loggers who are destroying the trees that the planet needs to breathe – or otherwise he could have joined a forestry organisation, and gone to plant trees somewhere in a location that needed it.

Most local councils employ people who want to plant trees, or otherwise there are lots of garden centres, or animal sanctuaries where people can work as well if they prefer to work with animals.
maybe he could have got a job in an aquarium if he prefered fish.

I agree with everything James Lee said about the environment and humankind’s culpability for the damage we have caused. However, the anger and frustration in his words detract from the importance of his message. You aren’t going to inspire humanity to change their ways by referring to them as “filth”. James finally put himself into a position where he had a platform in which to put forth his agenda to the world, but the main tenets of his ideology were lost on people due to the simple fact that he made himself come off as a nutjob crackpot. I remember years ago falling in love with the writings of Daniel Quinn. And now, here we are, years later, and someone finally gave their life to preach the way of the Leavers! I hope there are more like James in the future, and I hope they are more effective. Not thru violence of action, but thru persuasion of influence.
