San Bruno Fire after the huge explosion has claimed six lives until now and the numbers are feared to be rising as more homes are searched for dead bodies.

San Bruno Fire erupted at about 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening when a gas pipeline burst with a huge explosion leaving 40-50 feet deep crater on earth and grazing about 50 homes leaving many injured as people were at their homes for dinner.

San Bruno fire was taken as plane crash by many of the residents in the area and Captain Charlie Barringer who was among the first to respond to the explosion said that he initially thought that a 747 has landed on them as the explosion shook their fire station to its foundations.

The eye witness count of the area gives an eerily grim picture as few of the houses were left untouched while others burnt to ground and spot fires were still burning in the yards, the power was still out and firefighters were fighting the giant lashes of fire that were getting their strength from the strong winds blowing in the area.

The explosion not only destroyed the homes but also the main water lines and firefighters were having a shortage of water to combat the fire.

The official count of damaged homes is 53 while others received a partial damage.

The officials said that at least 30 people were injured and 100 were evacuated and taken to the Red Cross shelter while they were still searching for victims with the help of sniffer dogs and they added that they would not be able to complete their search until Friday.

Speaking of San Bruno Fire, the Pacific Gas & Electric spokesperson Jeff Smith described the scene as an absolutely horrible situation adding that if it turned out their fault, they would take the accountability for it.

At the San Bruno Fire scene helicopters and planes were seen dumping water and fire retardants on the area to restrain the flames.
