The city Officials in Gainesville, Florida denied the permit to burn copies of Koran saying, book burnings like the one planned by Reverend Terry Jones and Dove World Outreach Center is prohibited under the burning ordinance of city.
The Fire Chief for Gainesville, Florida Gene Prince warned Dove World Outreach Center and Reverend Terry Jones yesterday on Wednesday September 08, 2010 that if church went through the Quran Burning in Florida they could face fine.
The Quran Burning in Florida is almost a month old issue, when The Dove World Outreach Center last month announced on FaceBook that they are all set to burn copies of Koran on 9/11 to commemorate the terrorist attacks on U.S and urged other religious groups to join.
On the other hand Reverend Terry Jones refused to stop under any circumstances and said that he and his followers will go through with Quran Burning in Florida on Saturday September 11, 2010.
The burning of Koran has been condemned by a number of religious groups including several Christian groups.
