No Phone Zone: Join hands with Oprah Winfrey in her campaign of observance of No Phone Zone Day. The queen of day time talk shows has added her voice to growing concern about use of cell phones while behind the wheels.
No Phone Zone Day campaign is initiated by Oprah Winfrey and many others to create awareness about the potential use of cell phones while driving.
Oprah has suggested that her plea is that people are becoming addict of using their cell phones while behind wheels and if we give it a second thought, it all was missing from our lives ten years ago. We all were used to drive our vehicles to the destination and then think about the next. Today our primary concern is not driving and in my opinion driving is the primary concern when you are behind wheels.
Oprah Winfrey campaign about No Phone Zone carries three simple options;
1. I will not text while I am driving
2. I will not use the phone at all while driving
3. I will not text while driving and will use the hands free option of calling if necessary
4.
Around half a million people including several celebrities have said yes to Oprah’s call of road safety campaign including Elton John, Glee cast and Betty White.
Oprah Winfrey is quite hopeful that use of cell phones while driving will be strictly prohibited soon. She adds that her biggest hope about her No Phone Zone campaign is that it would become mandatory.
Oprah Winfrey has taken the stand that we have had lost many lives for such distractions and we must take those lives as our light to stand against the use of cell phones while driving.
Oprah Winfrey’s No Phone Zone campaign is equally backed by NHTSA and Focus Driven.
According to reports, there were 6000 deaths in crashes and 500000 injuries because of the use of cell phones during 2008. It all makes it 16% of all fatal crashes in 2008.
Let us join our hands with Oprah Winfrey to pledge against the use of cell phone while driving.

Saw parts of Oprah’s show yesterday 4/30/10. Made me really think about using my phone and driving, even having it open, you tend to look down to see if you missed a call.
OPRAH I do not look at you as being a talk show host, I look at you as being a world teacher.
Oprah, I never talk on my phone when I drive, but wanted to be a part of your no phone zone. What puzzles me is that I see people talking on heir phones all the time, wonder if they will ever get it. More people should get involved in this.
