A young male made a fatal leap from the Empire State Building on Tuesday night and crashed down on the street.

According to the details, a man successfully got past the ten-feet high fence of the Empire State Building around 6:15 on Tuesday evening and made a jump. The jumper leaped off from the 86th floor of the Empire state Building, the floor where the building’s observation deck is located. The man then crashed on the floor with a thud, horrifying the pedestrians. A witness tells that the body of the jumper was shattered on the floor and the scene was sickening. A guy then ran over to him and covered his body with an umbrella, told a pedestrian who witnessed the nightmarish scene.

The police say that the man who jumped off the Empire State Building was in his early 20’s and was probably a college student.

The observation deck of the landmark Empire State Building was relatively less crowded on Tuesday as a heavy rain was expected that evening.

Since 1931, when the building was first opened, at least thirty four people have jumped off from the Empire State Building. The most recent death at the landmark building was of a Brooklyn resident Moshe Kanovsky, 31, who took the fatal jump from the building’s 69th floor. In October 2000, the most prominent suicide occurred at the Empire State Building when a teen-aged Canadian guy, who was dressed like a pirate, jumped off from the observation deck.

Empire State Building stands 1,453 feet tall and was designed by William F. Lamb. The observation deck has a glass wall and outdoor walkways. The 86th floor of the building stands 1,050 feet above the ground.
