Leslie Van Houten aka Lulu was the member of notorious Manson family. Presently she is serving a life sentence at the California Institution for Women at Frontera. Leslie Van Houten is appearing before a parole board on Tuesday.
This will be Leslie Van Houten’s 19th try to be bailed out since she began her life sentence for murder. Leslie Van Houten was convicted of first-degree murder charges in 1978.
Leslie Van Houten was one of the Charles Manson’s followers; she was just 19 when she joined other Manson cult members in the killings of Leno and Rosemary La Bianca.
Leslie Van Houten was convicted of murder and conspiracy in the killings of wealthy grocers. The La Biancas were killed by stabbing to death in August 1969 just a night after the killings of actress Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, and Voityck frykowski and Steven Parent.
Leslie Van Houten was not involved in the first night killings but she went along other cult members when La Biancas were killed. Leslie Van Houten confessed that she joined in stabbing Mrs. Rosemary La Bianca.
Mason cult killings became one the most notorious murder cases of the 20th century and it rivet the pubic attention even after more than four decades.
In previous parole hearings, Leslie Van Houten has shown a lot remorse for the victims ‘families at the same time apologizing for her crime.
Leslie Van Houten is appearing before the parole board with a new lawyer and there is new law on which Leslie Van Houten is depending upon for her parole.
It is reported that even if parole board finds suitability for the parole, Leslie Van Houten’s freedom would not be an easy task as the entire state parole board would have to review the decision within 120 days and then it would be submitted to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger for the final ruling.
