Influential and prevailing Pennsylvanian activist and democratic representative John Murtha died on Monday at Virginia Hospital center. 77 years old John Murtha was a powerful and commanding politician and was first to face the bitter experience of Vietnam War as a member of congress. Recently he underwent a gall bladder surgery but his condition became worst after surgical operation due to some complication.

Mr. Murtha has served U.S house of representative for 36 years and during his long career he represented the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, and was a dominant lawmaker as he occupied a commanding position over other lawmakers. He was an imperative supporter of Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), and he played an important role in her profound party leadership.

He faced many controversies during his political career especially in the last few years of his life when he became a vocal antagonist for the involvement of military in Iraq during the government of previous President George W. Bush. His influential speech in the year 2005, against the Iraq war brought a big change in congressional attitude about defense. He also faced a critical and ethical inquiry for corruption in 1980 when he was videotaped by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and he was considered a bribe during its Abscam investigation.
Beyond controversies, he was adored and respected by his House contemporaries for being a strong and commanding lawmaker. He also gained the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award and two most eminent honors of Pennsylvania, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Distinguished Service Medal for his best services. His Funeral arrangements are yet not announced.
