The news about Milwaukee airport has been running all over the web now. Reason? It is because the torrential rain that has made the entire area including the airport got laced with flood all over.

Milwaukee’s General Mitchell International Airport remains closed to flights today after the cloudburst rain left some of the airport’s runways under standing water. It has been reported that more than a half foot of rain down poured in the Milwaukee area on Thursday causing huge flooding throughout the city.

The roads leading to airport are also fully flooded with water. The Milwaukee airport authorities are advising the travelers that they should certainly make contact with the airlines before heading to the airport to know about the status of their flights.

AirTran, one of the leading carriers in Milwaukee, issued a flexible travel policy earlier this morning for their customers who got affected by floods and disrupted flight schedules.

The airline says, “The passengers schedule for travel to, from or through Milwaukee today may change their reservation without penalty as long as travel is completed within five days from the date of the original scheduled departure date, based on space availability, without fees or fare adjustments.”

According to the reports, the Milwaukee airport first closed at 9:30 p.m. when the water spraed all over the runways.

The airport authorities said that the Milwaukee airport would remain closed until they checked and judged the situation.
