16 and Pregnant is a joint venture of MTV and Kaiser Family Foundation. This TV program is aimed at preventing teenage, unplanned pregnancy. In every episode, this TV show features a teenager and show how pregnancy affected her/his life. This week Chelsea Houska and her boyfriend Adam are featured on the show.
Chelsea Houska is a senior at Vermillion High School. Throughout her pregnancy, the MTV crew was at her school premises to follow her life routines and the effects of her pregnancy on her studies and other life activities. Chelsea Houska gave birth to a girl who she named Aubree Skye. Chelsea Houska welcomed her baby girl on September 7 during an early delivery. At the time of the birth, the MTV crew wasn’t at the scene but the film makers captured the early weeks of Chelsea Houska with her baby.
The 16 and Pregnant episode, which featured Chelsea Houska and her child’s father Adam, showed how the young parents are struggling to balance their responsibilities. While Chelsea Houska loved her baby, Adam lost interest in his baby the first day Chelsea Houska brought it home. Adam wanted to go out and hang out with his friends on the very first night of baby at home from the hospital.
The situation of Chelsea Houska and Adam gives one important message, along many others, that teenage fathers too have to take the responsibility of the new person which has came into their lives. The show is aimed at helping the teenagers thinking about their lives and making decisions before taking certain moves.
