Bob Dudley gets a twist of fate to become the CEO of BP, not just for being an American but also being an industry veteran who has a vast experience of the industry at home and abroad and Bob Dudley’s rise has proven once again that oil has the prowess to change the fortune of the people from a laborer at Deep Horizon to Bob Dudley, the new CEO of the oil giant.
Just a few months back, even when Hayward was begging for his life back Bob Dudley was an unlike candidate but a twist of events that shape destiny of men, Bob Dudley would become the first American to lead BP, of course in a bid from its board to salvage BP reputation and investment in America.
Bob Dudley has said in a statement on Tuesday that he is not going to underestimate the task ahead.
Bob Dudley’s fate turned with the gulf oil spill and his standing with BP paid him in shape of a fortune many would be thinking impossible just few months back.
Bob Dudley has delivered the BP message loudly and clearly, they are going to pay everybody but in a calm manner and while Hayward was loosing his composure before public, fate has provided Bob Dudley a chance to prove that he is the right choice at the right time as he was in charge of the operations when BP finally managed to cap the spewing well.
BP is the largest oil and gas producer in the United States and it has 40% of its assets and one third of its oil and gas reserves in United States and in the wake of coming proposal in U.S Congress of not awarding any new offshore oil and gas leases to the companies with bad safety records and of course BP would be quoted as a company with bad safety records and BP may also loose its $2.2 billion contract with military.
Bob Dudley has not only to look after the smooth payments on company’s promise, he has also to arrange for $30 billion from BP asset sales to cover these payments. But herculean task comes after that as Bob Dudley has to regain the confidence of American administration and masses for BP and at this point it is hoped that his American passport will serve the purpose.
