American nation is celebrating the National Dance Day today. National Dance Day was an idea of Nigel Lythgoe who had been working at So you Think You Can Dance as a judge and a producer.
Talking about what inspired him to start a National Dance Day Nigel tells that he has observed increasing obesity in past few years and noticed that people don’t move a lot. So for Nigel getting people dancing was a brilliant idea to fight obesity. After his first tweet about the National Dance Day, his idea became really popular among the masses and now professional dancers as well as individual groups are celebrating the event with zealous.
The alumni of So You Think You Can Dance would be dancing on the National Dance Day throughout the country. The SYTYCD contestants would be presenting popular, much-loved dance performances from the previous seasons of the show.
Evan and Randi would perform the ‘Koop Island Blues’ in the SummerDance which is being held at Grant Park. Fox Network and the cast and crew of SYTYCD are promoting the National Dance Day very heavily but the spokesperson of the show says that the event promotion has nothing to do with the show’s publicity. Nigel Lythgeo has also said that the National Dance Day is being celebrated to tell people how much dance could help them feel good and build a great fitness regime.
In addition to Lythgoe, Congresswoman Eleanor Norton is also supporting the National Dance Day very enthusiastically. Norton says that she will present a proposal in the senate to promote dance education and fitness regimes in the country.
So get moving and shake a leg! Happy National Dance Day!
