Alaska Earthquake Information Center reports 5.0 earthquake

Alaska Earthquake Information Center has stated that a 5.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Anchorage at about 7:15 p.m. local time.

According to Alaska Earthquake Information Center, not only Anchorage but other communities in the south-central Alaska also reported the jolts. Alaska Earthquake Information Center has not received any reports of life or material damage; however, it said that it has received around 600 reports from different people who said that they felt the tremors.

Alaska Earthquake Information Center in Golden Colorado further said that most of the reports were Anchorage area while there also were reports of jolts in Fort Richardson, Elmendorf Air force Base and other communities in Wasilla, Cugiak and Palmer.

According to Alaska Earthquake Information Center, the epicenter of the quake was around 50 miles North West of Anchorage and it was at the depth of around 13 miles.

The report from Alaska Earthquake Information Center shows that American continent is under a constant fury of nature and it was not just California fault but other regions also felt heavy tremors during last few moths with such a frequency that was unheard of previously.

The world has not yet forgotten the Haiti tragedy, the rainy season and hurricanes and today we have shocked with the news that Alaska is also jolted. Keeping in view the location if Alaska trembles then trembles huge glaciers and that will start a new misery for the Americans if they would be able to coop with oil spill timely.
