Most religions do mention a “doomsday” in their respective divine books not as a “prediction” but as an “unavoidably certain” event. Whether it is Christianity, Judaism or Islam, doomsday has to come without any doubt. But no divine book gives any date of this horrible catastrophe to happen. However, one thing is crystal clear that both the “beginning” and the “end” of the world are mysterious for the rational capacities of mankind.
“2012 predictions” has become one of the most searched topics on the web because of certain factors which have stirred the apprehensions of the people. There are diverse views of people and experts on “2012 predictions” by some astronomers and experts. The people who believe or practice any of the divine religion are of the firm view that a “doomsday” will certainly annihilate our earth but they are either unsure or they disbelieve 2012 predictions.
Now a pertinent question arises as to what significance or solid ground this end-of-the-world theory has. These 2012 predictions, which orchestrate “end of the world in 2012”, are put forward by some group of people who have based their hypothesis on the belief that Mayan calendar has accurate and reliable predictions. “December 21, 2012” is the date on which Mayan Long Count calendar will end after 5,125 years. According to this hypothesis, many astrological and bodies such as stars and planets will align themselves in a linear fashion leading to an event which was predicted by the Mayan astronomers as the doomsday. That’s why Mayan calendar marks 2012 as its last year.
Although earth is demonstrating bizarre behavior which is unprecedented such as enhanced frequency of earthquakes, global warming and green house effect, tsunamis etc yet there are some religious viewpoints which negate 2012 as the year of doomsday on the ground that there certain events to happen before the end of the world such as the return of the Jesus Christ who has not returned to earth yet. So people should heave a sigh of relief and wait for Jesus to come before thinking a 2012’s end of the world.
