Dancing with the Stars dancing pair of towhead Hough and Pussycat doll Scherzinger are practicing hard and it looks like the duo would be one of the favorites to win this season’s DWTS’s glory.
Derek Hough (referred to as a towhead for his blonde hair) is a dancer as well as a choreographer. He is also a former world champion in Latin America Dance.
The 26-year old dancer has been a sensation on the stage of Dancing With Stars ever since he featured in the series in the 5th season in 2005. He paired with actress Jennie Gareth in his first season and was eliminated in the penultimate week of the show.
In the sixth season Derek was placed alongside actress Shannon Elizabeth. Though the duo developed into a nice couple off the screen but on the stage they weren’t able to woo the judges and were eliminated in the 7th week. The next season however Hough partnered Brooke Burke and went onto win the competition.
While writing this article I was somehow intrigued to checkup history to see how the blondes got this name of towheads and since when they are being called so.
The word tow actually dates back to the 14th century and is associated to the flax grown by families in those times to make their own fabrics. The process of ‘towing’ was carried out to filter out the short, coarse fibers from the longer ones. So tow basically referred to the short, less quality fibers and a towhead is the one who has hair of similar type.
