Phish: Pays Tribute To Genesis
According to the details, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held last night in the Waldorf-Astoria hotel, New York in which Class of 2010 was inducted amid the cheers of music artists.
During the star-studded ceremony, ABBA, Jimmy Cliff, The Stooges, Genesis, The Hollies, David Geffen, Ellie Greenwich & Jeff Barry, Mort Shuman, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, and Otis Blackwell were inducted into the Class of 2010 of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The band members of Phish, who were sporting dark suits for the occasion, opened the night with their own cover of ‘Watcher of the Skies’, a song from the widely acclaimed album’ Foxtrot’ of Genesis.
Trey Anastasia of Phish then appeared on the stage to announce the induction of Genesis in the Hall of Fame. After the announcement, Phish appeared on the stage again and performed ‘No Reply at All’ from the group’s 1981 album Abacab.
The performance of Phish was a fresh breath for everyone, especially for the fans of the band. Phish is noted for its devoted fan base, in addition to its musical improvisation of course.
Interestingly, Phish has not received much radio air time but became famous by the word of mouth. It still enjoys a very large, dedicated following. Just recently, Vampire Weekends wore Phish t-shirts during their Saturday Night Live performance to nod the band.
Apart from its huge fan base, another unique thing about Phish is the band’s musical blends. Phish has experimented with different genres of music and has blended a vast variety of genres in its music. Each of Phish concerts is unique and original in terms of the song selection and performing style.
