On Thursday, many networks premiered new shows. On NBC, it was ‘Outsourced’ whose pilot episode was aired, and just after its first night the show has got attacked by the critics with accusations of offensive and racist. NBC’s ‘Outsourced’ is based on a 2006 film of the same name.
It features an American who is sent to India to manage the local branch over there. ‘Outsourced’ uses the comedy of culture-clash which has offended many. The viewers of the pilot episode of NBC’s ‘Outsourced’ say the show is boring and offensive as it uses racist jokes. Other said the show is made in poor taste.
But honestly, ‘Outsourced’ was careful in its jokes. The comedy was balanced and the show made the American characters look as silly as the Indian ones. The Indian characters often joked about the goofy Americans in the show (and in the movie too).
As mentioned earlier that ‘Outsourced’ was careful in making jokes about culture-clashes – but perhaps the script writers are being too careful to be funny – so some of you might find it very boring. Some of the likeable things in NBC’s ‘Outsourced’ are its characters – particularly Rajiv and Todd.
It is being predicted that ‘Outsourced’ will not be a very successful series. Critics say had the show been aired on Comedy Central of FX, it would have created a greater buzz in the pop media. Also, some viewers have complained that NBC shouldn’t have placed ‘Outsourced’ in the spot of Parks and Recreation – a favorite of many.
Did you watch ‘Outsourced’? What do you think about the show?

Not really. I`m an indian living in US and found the show hillarious. We have more funny shown on indian sitcom making fun of ourselves that outsourced is just another funny shown and it is not offensive. Can you imagine a show in US that has all hit bollywood numbers in background. What more can we ask.
Amazing show. Nice job by all characters so far!!
Cheers

Indians viewers should be loud and proud. America has a shortage of creativity — on T.V., economically and politically, and in terms of global competition. NBC’s ‘Outsourced’ in 2010 is nothing more than a ‘remake’ of the movie ‘Outsourced’ from 2006. Broadmindedness not closemindedness is what fostered creativity in America. Creativity has been the American hallmark. And we need it now! Are we losing our creative edge? Why? And how can get it back?
So let’s welcome to India to America… a very warm welcome!
Thank you India… you may have shown America the way out… though indirectly?
Creativity 101 maybe watching NBC’s ‘Outsourced’ for Americans?
American media keeps probing new lows
A comedy about outsourcing jobs in a deep recession, and your only concern is offending the Indians who get the jobs
Why do you HATE American workers so much?
Very offensive. TV comedy has shrunk to a new low. You don’t insult such a rich culture. Its insulting the people and their character. NBC will be worst network in rating. There is nothing funny about ridiculing a group. You s#$# heads dont have any talent and hence jobs being outsourced. Get to your senses before you make more enemies around the world.
OFFENSIVE TO WOMEN
This show is so wrong on so many levels, Indians are minstrels, Americans are idiots, degrading Christmas/oral sex jokes and boob jokes. Sad, pathetic, unwatchable, hurtful, rude, insulting.
I loved the show!!! AND i don’t think it’s offensive at all!
This show is about cultures coming together and learning from one another, whats wrong with that?
maybe some of you think its a bad show or offensive because you are not constantly dealing with people form all over the world, i live in California so we are pretty diverse here and we love it! you grow as a person and you learn things, the world is bigger than just America you know?
The call centers are a REALITY, not only in India among THE WHOLE WORLD, i have friends in other countries working doing that, and if you are against that well ITS THE AMERICANS who don’t want to pay other Americans and rather give the jobs to foreigners, probably because it’s cheaper ( oh yeah and Americans always want to make more and more money no matter what) or because they do the job BETTER.
Great show!!
Great pilot! Will keep watching. The girl who is the “low talker” had me laughing out loud, as did the guy who likes redheads, er, blondes, oh and brunettes.
Just for everyone`s information, the show is being recorded mostly in US, as the cow shown in there are US cows and not Indian!!!! Also, all the characters are US based dudes, and are not real BPO workers from Indian BPO centers!!!!
Cheers
