Everyone under 18 knows Fred Figglehorn. He’s one of the most popular characters of the web. Created and played by a 17-year-old boy Lucas Cruikshank, Fred is now appearing in his own movie titled ‘Fred: The Movie’.
The movie premiered on Nickelodeon, a cable network, on September 18 and is set to be released on DVD on October 5. ‘Fred: The Movie’ is about Fred’s biggest adventure – his attempt to win the heart of his love Judy.
Judy moves away and her departure devastates Fred who then starts a journey to find Judy. His best friend Bertha helps him find his love.
‘Fred: The Movie’ is an independent project which is directed by Brian Robbins. ‘Fred: The Movie’ was financed by Brian Robbins before he was contacted by Nickelodeon.
Brian had first though to release the film in theater with Paramount but Nickelodeon asked him to premier ‘Fred: The Movie’ on small screen first. Brian has now plans to make a franchise of movies about Fred. So, the fans should expect at least two or three sequels of ‘Fred: The Movie’.
‘Fred: The Movie’ is a very interesting combination of some newly shot scenes and some old videos which Fred uploaded on YouTube. As a matter of fact, the idea of making a movie about Fred and his life struck Brian after he watched several videos on Fred’s official YouTube channel.
In his videos, Fred has talked about his love Judy, about his friend Bertha, and about his mother. In ‘Fred: The Movie’, the fans can see these characters coming to life.
Don’t worry if you have missed the premier of ‘Fred: The Movie’. The movie will be available on DVD soon.
