Reportedly, American Idol has fired Kara DioGuardi the same day Ellen announced that she’s quitting the show. 39-years-old songwriter Kara DioGuardi was let go the same day new judge Ellen announced her resignation.

Who would be replacing Kara DioGuardi on the show, it’s yet unknown. But rumor is that Jennifer Lopez would be replacing her along with Steven Tyler and that the new panel would have only three judges. The new season will have only one original judge i.e. Randy Jackson.

American Idol had been undergoing a lot of changes ever since Paula Abdul left the show. Just before the start of the last season, the much-loved, very popular judge Simon Cowell also announced that he would be leaving ‘Idol’ for his new show ‘The X Factor’. ‘Idol’ producers hired Ellen DeGeneres to replace Paula and the move turned out to be good. Ellen was cheeky and funny on the show though she had a hard time telling the hopefuls her critical reviews and eventually quit the show after appearing in one season only.

Unlike other judges, Kara DioGuardi’s contract was year-to-year. The producers renewed her contract every year but this time she wasn’t picked up as an option. Reportedly, Idol’s former producer Nigel Lythgoe is also returning this season and he wants to have a clean home which explains why Kara DioGuardi has been let go. No comments have been made by the ‘Idol’ or Kara DioGuardi camp about the recent rumors.
