Eeyore’s Birthday Party is taking place today at Pease Park in Austin.

Well many of you might be guessing as who really is Eeyore as his birthday party is making the headlines. Many of you might even recall the unhappy donkey from Winnie the Pooh series who was also named Eeyore.

Well this birthday Party is neither for any person’s birthday and it’s not exactly Eeyore the donkey’s birthday too today.

The Eeyore Birthday Party is annual single day event which has been celebrated every year in Austin, Texas since 1963.

The event is usually held on the last Saturday of April in the Pease Park in Austin, Texas.

The Eeyore Birthday Part is celebrated as a spring party by the students and alumni of University of Texas in Austin. The event includes food, beverages and live music and is meant to generate funds for local non-profit organizations. The visitors come to the party dressed in colorful costumes and large drums become the center of activities at the festival.

The festival got the name of Eeyore Birthday Party as in one of the episodes of Winnie The Pooh cartoon series, Eeyore thinks that his friends have forgotten his birthday and feels depressed while his friends are busy preparing for a surprise party for Eeyore.

The event is a family entertainment festival and now has major bands playing at the Pease Park venue. A lot of exciting games and competitions such as sack race, egg toss and best costume are also held to encourage more participation from youngsters.

A statue named as the “Eeyore of Liberty” also goes on display at the festival which portrays Eeyore, the donkey, in a posture which resembles the statue of liberty.

The party kicks off at 11am today.
