The five horses arrived for the first race at the paddock that was lined five deep while back porches were two to six and a number of onlookers were crowded there.
At Del Mar Race Track, the first race always starts in front of the grandstand so that fans could send the first meeting off with their loud cheers.
Wednesday is the only first day of coming 37 days and it is displaying a preview of the coming attractions during the days to come.
