DeFarra Gaymon, the CEO of Atlanta’s credit union, was fatally killed by an undercover sheriff last week.

According to the details, DeFarra Gaymon was in New Jersey to attend the 30th reunion of his Montclair High School. He flew to New Jersey on Thursday night to attend the event which was scheduled to take place at Crowne Plaza Hotel the following night.

But DeFarra Gaymon could never make it to the reunion. He was fatally shot by an undercover sheriff during a confrontation in Branch Brook Park of Newark.

Reportedly, Essex County Sheriff received complaints about people engaging in sexual intercourse in a public place. The undercover detective went to the park around 6 pm and shot a single fire in the chest of DeFarra Gaymon. Gaymon was carried to the University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. He could only live for a few hours after being shot.

DeFarra Gaymon was unarmed and was making a casual visit to the park. But the authorities say that he tussled with the officers when he was being arrested on the charges related to the original complaint. Police say that the section where the detective encountered DeFarra Gaymon is a well-known meeting corner for sexual activities and police has made tens of arrests for similar complaints.

Police authorities say that the undercover detective has been serving for 8 years and has received several lauds for his work. The detective, who was reportedly much traumatized, has recorded his statement about the incident.

DeFarra Gaymon is survived by his wife and four children.

    Too many unanswered questions.

A lone, veteran, undercover, police officer, in a sting operation, shoots an unarmed gay man and then says he is traumatized as a result of the incident????

This smells like and sounds like a typical police “screw-up-shoot-them-up-cover-up”, and that’s the way it will go.

I feel very sorry for DeFarra Gaymon’s family.
