A film was also made by a Japanese director “Hiroshi Inagaki” about the life of this great Samurai “Miyamoto Musashi’s story”. The movie won the Oscar for best foreign film in 1954. Miyamoto Musashi’s story also marked one of the most memorable interpretations of what is probably the best Japanese actor of all time and certainly the most international, Toshiro Mifune.
It is a remarkable adventure with a magnificent performance by Toshiro Mifune. Very entertaining, with landscapes, moments, dialogue, and beautiful costumes that tell the life of an ordinary villager who goes to war with another friend.
