Dame Julia Elizabeth Andrews (Julie Andrews) is a famed English movie star and stage actress who is also a singer and author. Born on 1st October 1935, Julie has won the awards like Golden Globe, Emmy, Grammy, BAFTA, People’s Choice Award, Theater World Award, Screen Actors Guild and Academy Awards.

Julie Andrews has also been nominated for a number of other distinctive awards. Andrews was also a child actress and singer as well making her Broadway debut in 1954 with ‘The Boy Friend’. She shot to fame with other musicals like My Fair Lady and Camelot. She also got noticed in Mary Poppins (1964) for this, Julie Andrews bagged the Academy award for Best Actress.

The characters for which Julie Andrews is still widely popular are from ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘The Sound of Music’.

Julie Andrews’ revival in films happened in 2000s with family flicks like ‘The Princess Diaries’ (2001), ‘The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement’ (2004) and the Shrek animated series (2004-2010). In 2003, Julie emerged as a stage director.

Julie Andrews has penned children books as well and in year 2008, she wrote her autobiography ‘Home; A Memoir of My Early Years’.
