Jennifer Aniston never has thought of the term slip of tongue before she came under fire from different disability groups who have criticized the actress for her use of word retard.

It happened at Live with Regis and Kelly, while Jennifer Aniston was on the show to promote her new movie The Switch. In reply to Regis Philibin’s question about Harper’s Bazaar photo shoot, Jennifer Aniston replied, “Yes, I play dress up! I do it for a living, like a retard!”

Though Jennifer Aniston did not get any response from the audience or hosts of the show, the spokesperson for the Special Olympics said that use of R-word by an influential is quite disappointing. The spokesperson further added that pervasive use of R-word, though in a self-deprecating manner de-humanizes people with intellectual disabilities.

Jennifer Aniston got huge criticism not only from the Special Olympic but also from the Arc, a non-profit group that supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The chief executive of the group, Peter Berns has said that use of R-word was extraordinarily offensive and inappropriate.

Peter Berns further added that use of R-word by Jennifer Aniston was offensive to a large segment of the population in America and every time people with disabilities hear this word, it reminds them of all the discrimination they have had experienced in their lives.

Ironically, Jennifer Aniston’s movie The Switch is about a woman who is seeking artificial insemination.

It is not the first time that Jennifer Aniston is criticized heavily for her slip of tongue, earlier in the week she was criticized for her remarks on marriage where Jennifer Aniston was quoted saying that women have been realizing it more knowingly that they do not need to settle with a man to have child. Bill O’Reilly has declared Jennifer Aniston a destructive to society for her remarks about marriage.
