World has known Eddie Duchin as one of the most famous and elegant pianist of all times, but his family and friends remember Eddie Duchin for his courage to fight the most drastic disease Leukemia.

The bandleader and holder of a wonderful personality Eddi Duchin was born in 1909 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and started his professional life as a pharmacist, but his love for music forced him to change his career and he became musician.

Eddie Duchin started his music career with Leo Reisman orchestra in N.Y, at Central Park casino from where he gained his fame only to become the orchestra leader in 1932 at the age of just 23.

The regular radio airing of his music became the reason of Eddie Duchin’s huge fame.

Eddie Duchin and his band is known for his songs “OI’ Man Mose” sung by Patricia Norman that created a huge controversy over a lyric “bucket” in the song.

Many of the critics back then thought that Norman used the word “Fuck it” instead of “Bucket”, but later analysis revealed that the word was actually “Bucket” but it sounds like the other word. The record made a huge sale of over 170,000 copies.

Eddie Duchin joined United States Navy during the WWII, to serve his country, he was discharged from the Navy after reaching the rank of Lieutenant Commander, but after that he was unable to reclaim his high status in music.

Eddie Duchin died of Leukemia at the age of just 41 in N.Y City.

    I became familiar with Eddie Duchin, viewing the movie, “The Eddie Duchin Story”, with Duchin portrayed by the marvelous actor, Tyrone Power. Mr. Power does a marvelous job of interpretating the piano playing of Mr. Duchin and one feels like Mr. Duchin is still with us.
