Dinah Shore, the legendary singer

Dinah Shore, whose real name was “Frances Rose Shore” was one of the most famous and successful television personality and singer of 40s and 50s. Dinah Shore was born on 29th February 1916 and died on 24th February 1994. She was the most famous singer of the Big Band era of the 40s and 50s.

Dinah Shore started her career in 1934 but remained unsuccessful in the first three band auditions with three different bands. The bands of Jimmy Dorsey and his brother Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman failed in their auditions and Dinah Shore was the part of all three bands.

Dinah Shore decided to start her career as a solo performer. Within no time, Dinah Shore became the most famous solo singer of her times. She had a list of 80 songs which remained at the top of chart list from 1940s to late 1950s.

After getting great success as a solo performer, Dinah Shore jumped into the television career. She appeared in different films to start her career on the American television. She also hosted two talk shows in 1970s. Dinah Shore was ranked 16 in the list of the top fifty television stars of all times by TV Guide Magazine.

Dinah Shore spent her career and life in a well mannered and successful way and she died just five days before her 78th birthday. Dinah Shore suffered from ovarian cancer which led her to death at the age of 78.
